Hi-Heat Aerosol Coating Cans Are Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product safety Commission has issued an immediate release on the recall of Hi-Heat Aerosol Coating Cans. There have been about 3,000 units of this hazardous product sold. The Sherwin-Williams Co., of Cleveland, Ohio is the manufacturers of this explosive product.

The Hi-Heat Aerosol Coating Cans product can become over pressurize and has the capability of exploding. One consumer has already been devastatingly victimized by this hazardous, explosive product. It was reported to Sherwin-Williams that a can of Hi-Heat Aerosol Coating blew up while the consumer was using it. This explosion caused the consumer to suffer serious injuries to his face. The injuries included a broken jay, teeth and nose. He suffered from a split lip. Also, his eye socket was shattered. It is mandatory that consumers discontinue using this product to prevent further life-threatening and disabling casualties from occurring.

The Thermo-Tec Hi-Heat aerosol coating is used to color and protect Thermo-Tec automotive exhaust wrap. The Thermo-Tec Hi-Heat aerosol coating is the product being recalled. Consumer should examine the part number which is 12002 which is printed above the UPC to see if that product is a part of the recall. They should also examine the date code which is B1815. The date code is printed on the bottom of the can. The bottle weighs 11 ounces. It is blue and contains orange and yellow flames. The cap is aluminum colored. On the front of the can are large white letters which read "HI-HEAT COATING 20000F."

These recalled products have been sold nationwide. They were purchased at automotive supply stores, repair shops and suppliers of parts. They were sold from August 2005 through June 2007. During that time of purchase, Thermo-Tec Hi-Heat aerosol coating, cost about $20.

Consumers should not touch or handle the cans in any way. Instead they should contact Sherwin Williams immediately. Sherwin Williams will than arrange for a representative to come to the consumer's location (home or business) to safely handle the cans and remove them from the premises. The representative should be at the consumers' location within a 48 hour period. Once the Thermo-Tec Hi-Heat aerosol coating is removed from the consumers' homes or businesses, Sherwin Williams will send the consumer a check for $15.00 for each recalled can.
