My first stop was of course Disneyland! We spent two days in the Magical kingdom and I still felt I hadn't seen it all. I was back again a few weeks ago and after no less than 10 visits over the last 30 years I still believe there is much that I have not yet seen!
This was the first time we visited the restaurant in the Pirates of The Caribbean. The "Blue Bayou" was exquisite. It was nothing like any dining experience I had experienced in my 70 odd years. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was what really made this a one of a kind dining experience. The extremely low level lighting made it difficult to make out your surroundings until your eyes became accustomed to the darkness. Twinkling lights were everywhere and some of them appeared to be moving! We soon realized that the moving lights were actually the cruising visitors to the pirates water ride (My favorite Disney attraction by the way).
I never tire of the Haunted Mansion! It is certainly my number two choice and always my second port of call. Disney does a magnificent job of themeing the ride to the current festivities. I was there during October and enjoyed the Halloween spectacular. During the winter months the graves are covered in snow!
I guess the highlight of this trip was another new experience- a visit to Frontierland's Golden Horseshoe.
The performance was hysterical. The 4 fiddlers had everyone in stitches and amazed with their fiddle playing antics.
One of my perennial favorites is the submarine ride in TomorrowLand. "Finding Nemo" has been vastly improved since my last visit and the views were very realistic. Having dived many times on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, my submarine ride brought back many forgotten memories.
The California Adventure park was the least of my favorites only because I am not into rides at my senior time of life. They looked terrific but not my cup of tea. We loved "It's Tough to be a Bug" though. This 3D experience has some wonderful surprises that I won't spoil for you! Check it out for yourself.
Disney has just opened it's first 'timeshare' resort at Anaheim, and though our schedule didn't allow us sufficient time to investigate, having visited many of their resorts in Florida however, I have no doubt that it will truly be an amazing addition to the Disney experience.
