Hibachi Poetry

Carolyn Lawrence
Silver sits in front of me, taunting me without hesitation

I have to wait for a single seat, I have no reservation

But the wait is worth the fire coming forth in spatula form

I chow on my ginger salad, watching the fried rice storm

Spatula and knife, working fast and furious against the grill

Next comes the vegetables, buttered and seasoned at will

Throw down the shrimp, the steak I like medium rare

Give me more soy sauce, green tea, just put it right there

Hibachi, hibachi, how I love you with all my heart

The rice, the veggies, the protein, I hate when I have to part

I enjoy the taste, the atmosphere, the ambiance too

I'm so hungry now, I think I'll eat there soon.
