Hidden Easter Eggs and Surprises in Your Favorite Movies on DVD

If you have never heard of the term "easter eggs" they are basically fun hidden things you can find in video games, software and DVDs.

When it comes to DVDs these "eggs" could contain bloopers from the movie, actor or director commentary, deleted scenes that never made the final cut, or sometimes jokes and spoofs.

Follow the directions below to find some of the hidden "easter eggs" in your favorite DVDs.

What Was In the Box That Tom Hanks Never Opened At the End of the Movie "Castaway"

Ever wonder what was actually in the box that Tom Hanks never opened but made sure that he delivered at the end of the movie? Now is your chance.

On the Special Features Disc Main Menu select "Video and Stills Galleries"
Highlight "Raft Escape" and press the left arrow button
This will highlight hidden Angel wings like shown in the movie
Select it and you will hear Robert Zemekis tell you what was in the package

A Christmas Story (20th Anniversary Edition) - Shows You Where You Can Buy A Leg Lamp Just Like In the Movie

Insert the second disk of the set (Disk 2).
Go to the "Special Features" menu.
Move the snowflake cursor to "Additional Special Features" (but don't select it)
Press the right-arrow, and a hidden gift box be highlighted. Select that.

You will see then see an ad for a leg lamp just like the one the father got in the movie. The site leglamps.com is a real site where you could purchase the lamp, but it is a little pricey on this site. You can probably find it cheaper in some online novelty stores.

Citizen Kane - Hidden Interviews with the Original Members of the Cast that Were Recorded in 1994.

There are little sled placed throughout the menus. As you click on them you will have access to the interviews.

Dumb and Dumber - Some Very Funny "Extra" Clips

At the main menu you will see a carton of eggs.
Press right and they will be highlighted.
When you press enter - they will give you 5 eggs to watch
You can more of these eggs under the "All Access Pass and the "Language" Options on the menu as well.
There are at least 10 eggs in total.

ELF - There are a few Different Fun Eggs in This Movie - Here are 2 of Them:

A Fun Pop-Up Book

On the main screen of the DVD menu you will see an arrow on the top of the screen
Highlight the arrow and click enter
The pop-up book will begin to move and you will get songs and comments from the movie

A "Mystery" Egg

Hit left from anywhere on the main menu and you will highlight a red arrow pointing to a chair.
Click on the chair.

Fast Time at Ridgemont High - The Best Spicoli Quotes from the Movie

Go To Bonus Materials from the Main Menu
Move up once (to the upper right) to highlight the footprints and hit enter
There are 4 short video clips of Spicoli's more famous lines

Freak Friday - Deleted Scenes of Jamie Lee Curtis Guitar Solo and Clothes Switching

Go to "Bonus Material" on the DVD main menu
Then to "Freaky Music Videos" (there will be two options)
While the first one is highlighted with a little blue guitar at the left of the Lillix song press left on your remote control.
2 guitars will appear on either side of Jaime Lee's head. Select one to watch an amusing guitar solo by Jamie Lee that was cut from the original movie.

Ever Changing Costumes

On the main menu of the DVD you will see a fortune cookie in between Jamie Lee and Lindsay Lohan.
Click on it with your arrow
The screen will shake and turn colors and then the little figures of both stars will change outfits and do different poses. (Changes about 5 times.)

Friends Season Five Television Series - For Gunther Fans

On Disk 4 - go to the "Special Features Menu"
Select Gunther Spills the Beans
Press the right arrow key on your remote control
You will see three coffee cups
Click on the cups and Gunther will pop up to congratulate you before he gets frustrated

GodFather DVD Collection - Find out why Mario Puzo Wrote The Godfather

Insert Disk 5 (The extra disk)
Go to Film Makers on the Main Menu
Select Mario Puzo
You will see some background information on Mario Puzo
Hit the left button a few times until a large green dollar sign appears
Hit enter
You will see a scene where Mario Puzo and Francis Coppola are shooting pool. When he gets asked why he wrote the Godfather, you will get his answer.
