Hidden Shopping Treasures in Dallas and Fort Worth

Break A Leg!

There are two major shopping meccas' in the Dallas/Fort Worth area you really have to go to.

1. The Dillard Clearance Center in Arlington at Six Flags Mall

Okay . . . this store is not for a light weight. If you're a "get in and get out" sort of shopper NEVER go to this store. This is for veteran shoppers only.

Dillard's Clearance Center not only has apparel for every member of the family. But, also for every occasion. Evening gowns, sweaters, warm-up suits, pajamas . . . all of it under one roof. My favorite area would be the shoes. I found the cutest pair of Coach Mules for $14.95. YES! They are the real deal. No, this merchandise is not being sold in the parking lot out of a car at Six Flags mall. The clearance center use to be at Festival Mall. But, when the regular Dillard's closed last year, the clearance center took over the space.

They also have furniture and other household knick-knacks. Some of the most aromatic candles I have ever bought came from this store.

Most if not all of the merchandise is sold during its off season. So, when you go, stock up. I bought several beautiful cable knit sweaters in August for only $7.

2. Sam Moon off of Harry Hines.

Now, if you're familiar with Sam Moon, you probably remember when it was a tiny store in Dallas with limited parking. If you haven't been there in a while. It is now huge; with limited parking. It is also now at the Sam Moon Center in Dallas off of Harry Hines. I have met people in this store who have planned their vacations around this one shopping expedition.

Sam Moon is an accessory cornucopia. Purses, jewelry and hats galore. No, not knock-offs. Nor are their many name brands. Just classy, cute and stylish purses for every day of the week. I have walked out of this store with three purses and eight jewelry sets in one weekend. Compared to the lady who bought over $1500 that same day, I feel so inadequate.

I highly recommend you shop at these stores during a weekday and on holidays. If you shop on a weekday you'll avoid most of the headaches and lines. If you shop during the holiday, the discounts (at Dillard's) will be so great you won't mind people stepping on your toes. You're getting new shoes anyway. Just smile and say, "Excuse me." Then shop on!
