Hidden Trails Corn Maze in West Salem, WI is a Great Fall Family Getaway!
This Corn Maze is A-Maize-Ing!
The Hidden Trails Corn Maze is a family farm that entered into the corn maze business with their first corn maze in 2001. They have had a different corn maze each year, with a spectacular image that can be seen by the birds and the planes in the air! In 2001 the maze was a fish scene, in 2002 it was an eagle flying, in 2003 it was a barn, silo and windmill scene, in 2004 was a buck and fawn, in 2005 the corn maze was a scene of farm animals, and in 2006 it was a barnyard scene. They haven't released the 2007 picture, but you can be sure that it will be equally amazing.
The hours for the Hidden Trails Corn Maze are as follows: Monday thru Thursday they are open from 1pm-6pm, Friday and Saturday they are open from 11am-7pm, and on Sunday they are open from 11pm until 6pm. Guests can enter the trail up to 15 minute prior to closing time, which means you can stay till you find your way out! As the sun goes down, more staff will circulate through the maze to help you find your markers and eventually your way out.
The maze is set up with several check-off markers located throughout it. You will be given a maze card that shows where the maze runs and where the markers are. It sounds like it would be simple, but after running through the maze for only a few minutes, you can become completely disoriented. For the serious maze hunters, bring your compass to realign your direction. After you have found all the check-off points you can then find your way to the exit. Never fear, if you feel lost of need some help, just start yelling and someone will come help you!
The maze is cut and prepared by the owner and then taped off. You are not encouraged to ever go off the trail and into the corn. You can become lost quite easily if you ever leave the trail. The trail is dirt, so watch for weather conditions and be prepared for some muddy spots here and there. You can bring a stroller but it may be a tough push. The trails are wide, about 5 feet, with narrower spots here and there, but there is ample room to maneuver a group of people around the course.
You can also find a hay ride available at the Hidden Trails Corn Maze. This is an extra fee, but you will be taken on a scenic ride around the countryside. These hay rides are only available on the weekends and cost $2.00 per person.
The Corn Maze is scheduled to open on September 4, and remain open through October 31st. On October 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th the Hidden Trails Corn Maze will feature a haunted maze. The Haunted trail is open late, from 7pm until 10pm. Be prepared for some scares as you make your way through the haunted maze. On these days that the haunted maze is scheduled, the maze will be open 11am-3pm for daytime non-haunted maze guests, and then closed from 3pm until 7pm to prepare for the haunted trail.
Some other interesting things at the Hidden Trails Corn Maze include a concession trailer and a pumpkin shop. You can buy food, pumpkins, and souvenirs while browsing the grounds.
The price for the maze is $7 per person ages 12 and up, $4 for kids 6-11 and free for kids younger than 5. If you have a group of 20 or more people, call ahead for a group rate.
