It's time to talk of the here and the now.
Not of my faults or your promises,
But of the heart I gave to you
And the way it is slowly breaking
Like slender cracks on hollow vases,
A trembling thing ready to splinter and burst.
If you're not willing to heal its faces,
Just bury it gently somewhere
Under an arboreal guard
And seal its echo in the dirt.
Place a quiet marker on its grave
So I can find it in the dark
And put it back inside my chest.
Not of my faults or your promises,
But of the heart I gave to you
And the way it is slowly breaking
Like slender cracks on hollow vases,
A trembling thing ready to splinter and burst.
If you're not willing to heal its faces,
Just bury it gently somewhere
Under an arboreal guard
And seal its echo in the dirt.
Place a quiet marker on its grave
So I can find it in the dark
And put it back inside my chest.
