Hideki Matsui Leaves New York Yankes for Contract with LA Angels?

Stacey Doyle
It seems Hideki Matsui is in a one year contract with the LA Angels. After seven years with the New York Yankees, apparently Hideki Matsui will be playing for the Los Angeles Angels. New York Yankees fans will definitely miss Hideki Matsui, who is sure to be an asset to the Angels.

Last month Hideki Matsui received A World Series Most Valuable Player Award. Now the New York Times reports an unnamed official indicated Hideki Matsui agreed with the LA Angels on Monday. The official announcement will not be made until Matsui passes a physical exam. They also report Matsui is rumored to receive $6.5 million from the LA Angels, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.

Because of his knee problems, Matsui was a designated hitter and will do the same in Anaheim. It also seemed to be the reason why the New York Yankees appeared to be reluctant to make a commitment to Matsui. Word on the street says Hideki Matsui made a solid decision.

As a diehard New York Yankees fan, I'll miss Hideki Matsui. But I'm still dedicated to the team after What The New York Yankees Did For My Brother In Law (may he rest in peace).

As an example of what comes around goes around, the Yankees opening home game will be against the Angels on April 13. I guess we'll all see Hideki Matsui again sooner than we thought!
