Higgins Armory is a historic glimpse to the time of medieval pagentry and ancient warfare from all over the world, including Africa and Japan.

Just beyond the admission desk on the first floor is a mural-size photograph of the founder and curator of the Armory. A rich eccentric in a top hat and coattails , Mr. Higgins amassed his collection of antiquities through auctions and travel that span centuries of historic weaponry. Free with admission is the live medieval arms and armory demonstration. where Knights and Pages from all age groups can take part in a hands on experience in which they suit up in real armor, swing swords, and demonstrate the strength of chain mail vs steel.

There are four floors containing five hundred objects in the museum, so plan for a full day. With reminders of the renaissance everywhere you turn it is easy to get swept away in history; even the elevator doors themselves reflect a gleam of polished steel with celtic knotwork. The facade itself is stunning to look at , as it sits atop of a hill and resembles an ancient castle. The Great hall is flanked with jousting knights on horseback to scale and full suits of armor.Anyone who enjoys attending renaissance faires or reading about the crusades of King Arthur's knights would appreciate the exhibits. The collection is massive, with leg armor, gauntlets, spears, shields, and a play area where children can dress up in renaissance garb and pose for photo ops.
