My family has a history of high blood pressure and heart disease, so when I was really young I learned some of the warning signs and tried to advert what I though was going to be the unevitable, I was right, I do have high blood pressure, and I am on medication to control the pressure to assure that I do not have a stroke.

- Lose weight, carrying that extra weight does your body harm it make your heart work harder and it can be a factor in rising the blood pressure.

- exercise, try waliking, and light exercise at first, this way your body will gradulaly build up to take on additional stress

- lower your salt intake, salt is a mineral composed of sodium and chloride you should try to cut back on your salt intake to approximately one teaspoonful a day

- listen to your doctor and take your medications as prescribed. If you miss a dosage, make sure that the next one is taken on time. Keep a record if you must and assure that a routine is met.

- try changing your diet, include fresh vegtables, and fruits into your daily food intake.

- If you live in a city that has a lot of smog, this is harmful to you, be careful and stay out of it if at all possible.

- Spend some time around those that you love and care for, it actually helps you feel better and when you are relaxed your blood pressure will go down.
