High Fashions and Accessories... At Target?

Laura Leiva
Everyone knows Target is a mass retailer that sells everything under the sun at great prices. Did you also know that now you can buy high fashion collections and accessories from fashion designers around the world, still at a great price? Lately, Target has been selling goods from a variety of famous fashion designers, making this store too good to be true for the bargain shopper.

Target has a variety of departments, including Men and Women's apparel, Home Furnishings, and Cosmetics, just to name a few. In recent months, Target has been featuring high fashions as well as fashionable accessories collections from well-known designers within various departments, mostly clothing and accessories. By doing this, people are able to purchase "label" names for a fraction of the cost.

Check out the list of High-Fashion Clothing Designers and Accessory Collections being promoted at a Target near you!

Issac Mizrahi- A winner of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Designer of the Year award, Issac Mizrahi launched his Target collection in 2003. His designer collection consists of women's sportswear and accessories. These are the same collections he presented at the high-end designer department store, Bergdorf Goodman. In 2005, Mizrahi continued to add to his Target store collections, with his contemporary style home furnishings including bedding, bath, furniture, luggage and home décor items ranging in price from $8.00 to $300.00. The Issac Mizrahi Collection now occupies a great deal of the women's apparel floor, and has extended to the shoe department. Because the average price of Mizrahi collection items is around thirty dollars per item, shoppers are able to look great with a designer name for a low price.

Liz Lange- Liz Lange started out as an assistant editor for Vogue Magazine, and soon put her mark on the fashion world by starting her own sportswear company. In 1997, Lange began her Liz Lange Maternity Collection in Manhattan, prompting her to open up boutiques across the country in New York, Long Island and Beverly Hills because business was expanding at such a fast pace. In August of 2002, Liz Lange started her exclusive Maternity-wear collection within Target. Finally! High fashion for expectant mothers! Her collections have grown very popular and provide very trendy clothes for soon-to-be mothers. The Liz Lange Collection is extensive and offers a variety of clothing ranging from tops and pants, to jackets and swimsuits. The average price of items within her designer collections average at about twenty-five dollars per item.

Sonia Kashuk- A makeup artist known around the world, Sonia Kashuk has spent over 20 years doing makeup for models, celebrities, including spreads in fashion magazines. She has teamed up with Target to sell her own collection of makeup, makeup accessories, fragrance and skin care line. The concept of this line is to sell luxurious, high fashion quality products at an affordable price. Most products are priced no higher than twenty dollars, and shoppers are offered a vast array of makeup palettes and colors, tools and brushes or lotions and face care products.

Go International- A great idea for any shopper, Target has introduced a collection called Go International. This collection features new up and coming designers from around the world who offer parts of their line for limited periods of time. The idea started in February 2006 with Luella Bartley and her English traditional look mixed with London Underground flair.

The second designer to be featured in the collection is Tara Jarmon. Her high fashion line incorporates a Parisian influence. There followed Sophie Albou, the creator for Paul & Joe, her influences based on the casual woman with free and flowing designer styles. Paul & Joe has been featured in numerous high-end stores, including Barneys. The current designer being showcased in the Go International Collection is Behnaz Sarafpour, a high-fashion designer who made a name for herself in 2001 on the New York runways for her elegant line, inspired by glamorous and expensive looking designer fashions based on New York City nightlife.

So while many people love Target for low prices and high assortment, many don't realize they can buy high fashion designer pieces there without spending most of their income. Thanks to Target's innovative approach, you don't have to be a millionaire to afford high fashions. They're now within our budget. Go check it out for yourself!
