High Heels and Health Related Complications

High heels are a fashionable foot ware; it is also associated with certain health related complication. Every woman loves to look tall, sexy, long legs but after putting the high heels she is compromising her foot as well as on her posture.

High Heels and change in posture
Fashion is like a circle; it keeps on changing and reaches the same position after some time. So is the foot ware it also changes with time. Present time is of high heels, a person wearing high heels the center of gravity changes to forward and the buttocks and spine is out of alignment. Long use of High heels tends to increase in size of buttocks. High heels also pushes the buttocks of women high and with time the figure changes.

A high heel also puts pressure on the inner side of knees. Study by the health experts says women wearing high heels put 26% of pressure more on the knees. As a result the osteoarthritis is seen common in women wearing high heels.

Morton's neuroma - High Heels
Consist wearing of high heels and narrowing of toe box leads to thickening of tissues of nerve of third and fourth toe, which causes great pain. This condition is termed as Morton's neuroma.

Calf Muscles - High heels
Due to the high heels construction, the calf muscles tends to adjust and have a tendency to become small and tight.

Achilles tendon - High heels
Achilles tendon is liable to get tightened, when the front of the foot moves down compared to heel, causing pain. The higher the heels smaller is the Achilles tendon, which basis tenderness.

Bubions - High heels
The edifice of high heels causes bony growth in the big toe, which results in bending of toe towards inner side, causing pain.

Ankle injury -High heels
Women wearing high heels have risk of falling thus resulting in injury of ankles.

Metatarsalia - High heels
An extended and prolong use of high heels cause readjustment of body weight, thus resulting in joint pain in the ball of the foot.

Strap irritation
The tight strap cause irritation of heels causing bony growth called Haglund's deformity.

Hence high heels may be fashionable but causes irreparable damage to the legs and foot. It is advisable to put on flat, comfortable shoes, which are soft on inner side and does not harm our toes, heels and other soft parts of foot. As far as possible avoid high heels to lead a life of pain free foot.
