For the past few weeks, The Brooklyn Paper'sAaron Short has reported on the Brooklyn team that could, or, rather, couldn't. Automotive High School had been told for years it was not allowed to play football games on the regulation field in McCarren Park, even though the school sits adjacent. The Pistons, who went undefeated in 2009, are forced to trek to rival schools to play "home" games due to Parks Department permit denials and Department of Education hesitation. But soon that will all change.

If scheduling conflicts can be worked out, the Pistons' varsity team will play two Public School Athletic League-sanctioned games in McCarren Park on Sept. 25 and Nov. 7. According to the Pistons' Facebook page, these games are "part of a pilot program, the success of which will lead to access for all home games for both varsity and JV next season. On behalf of Pistons Football, thank you to all who made this happen."
