DeMAtha Loaded with the Best Prospects in Maryland

DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Ma., is ranked 12th in the nation by Rivals.com. The school has a long and storied athletic past. DeMatha is highly ranked in the nation and considered to have the best football program in Maryland because the team is loaded with talent. The team is lead by the second best offensive line prospect in the nation and the seventh best prospect in the nation Cyrus Kouandjio. DeMatha has eight of the top 20 prospects in Maryland on their football team.

Offense

Cyrus Kouandjio anchors the offensive line for DeMatha. He is the number one prospect in Maryland and considered a five star prospect. The big guy has several college offers to top notch programs. Cyrus is a huge body at 6'6" and 322lbs. Cyrus is joined on the line by Kelby Johnson. Kelby is a two star prospect and the 19th best prospect in Maryland. Johnson is tall and has good size at 6'8 275lbs. Kelby is already committed to Virginia for college. 6'3" 275lbs Darian Cooper helps out on the offensive line even though he is considered a defensive line prospect. The two star tight end prospect Sam Collura is the 18th best prospect in the state. He is strong and has decent size at 6'3" and 250lbs.

Defense

Darian Cooper is the eighth best prospect in Maryland. The three star prospect is considered to be the best defensive tackle in the state. Darien Harris is a 6'1 210lb three star prospect who is among the top 10 football players in Maryland. Harris will continue his football career at Michigan State. Kendall Paterson solidifies the defensive line. The 6'2 272lbs Cooper is considered a three star prospect. Cooper is ranked as the 14th best player in Maryland. Michael Williams is a 5'11 175lbs defensive back,. Williams is considered the 17th best player in the state and a three star prospect. Michael has the right pedigree. According to Rivals.com "Williams is the brother of Minnesota Vikings defensive back Madieu Williams."

Athletes

Jordan Lomax is 5'11 185lbs and is considered the twelfth best player in Maryland and a three star prospect. Lomax put up big numbers on defense last season. Jordan also has the ability to be an offensive threat. Lomax will be playing his college ball at Virginia.

Outlook

The DeMatha Stags look to be contenders to win the WCAC Championship in 2010. An important game will be at Gonzaga College High School on October 2nd. DeMatha has a reputation for being one of the best high schools in the region and the nation. The team is loaded with talent and should be able to add to the Stags legacy in 2010.
