High School Musical 3: Senior Year Now in Theaters

Released in movie theaters nationwide on October 24, 2008, this sequel promises to outshine its predecessors, "High School Musical" and "High School Musical 2." Now on the big screen, it promises to draw a larger viewing crowd, whereas previous releases were only shown on the Disney Channel. Directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega, the movie focuses on high school seniors, Troy Bolton, played by Zac Efron and Gabriella Montez, played by Vanessa Hudgens, who face separation anxiety as they get ready to go off to different colleges. Gabriella was accepted at Stanford University and Troy was accepted at the University of Albuquerque.

As they prepare for the prom, and graduation, Troy and Gabriella finally decide, along with fellow Wildcats, Chad Danforth, played by Corbin Bleu; Taylor McKessie, played by Monique Coleman, Sharpay Evans, played by Ashley Tisdale; and Ryan Evans, played by Lucas Grabeel, to stage an unforgettable spring musical. Reflected by their experiences, hopes, and fears about their impending future, this musical is comprised of 17-high energy dance numbers. Filmed on location at Salt Lake City's East High School, the teenagers perform songs from the soundtrack that include "I Want It All," "Can I Have This Dance?" "A Night to Remember," "Just Wanna Be With You," "Walk Away, and "The Boys are Back (my favorite)."

From the beginning, the "High School Music" emperor became an instant hit with teenagers worldwide and its franchise is steadily growing. Not to mention the growing popularity of its young stars. It is also popular among the adults. My favorite songs from the "High School Musical 2" soundtrack include "I Don't Dance" and "Bet On It."

The "High School Music 2" premiere drew in a total of 17.3 million viewers in the United States, almost 10 million more than "High School Musical," making it the highest-rated basic-cable broadcast in United States history. My daughter and I watched it together on premiere night and it was definitely worth the wait. I was quite impressed with the level of energy projected throughout the entire movie. Popularity from previous movies led to a touring concert; an ice show; a series of video games and young-adult novels; a reality show spin-off; and a stage musical.

Returning stars from the first two Disney Channel movies include Bart Johnson; Olesya Rulin; Chris Warren, Jr.; Ryne Sanborn, Kaycee Stroh, and Alyson Reed. This move is rated G and is approximately 112 minutes long. Check your local listings for show times. And, don't forget to take your teenager along!

I don't really think that the film is just for kids. I'm sure a lot of people my age, perhaps older, enjoy it because it's easy to relate to. I use the songs to teach myself how to play piano. So I'll be the first to admit that they're catchy. I am a twenty-two and I like these films because I can relate to them, probably because high school wasn't that long away for me. Anyway, I really liked this review and 'The Boys Are Back' is my favorite song too.

I sat through HSM 1, never again, lol! I can see why kids like it a lot though, yeah, HSM 3 being on the big screen is going to be a really big deal. Disney never ceases to amaze me in how successful their films are they really have their ear to the ground.
