High School Student Amy Myers Throws Down the Gauntlet to Michele Bachman

Pat Bartels
When you hear of a young person who shows a grasp of the world around them, you should stand up and cheer.

You have to be impressed with the moxie one high school student in Cherry Hill, NJ has shown. Amy Myers is a sophomore who has challenged Congresswoman Michele Bachman to a contest of knowledge. It seems that Amy is a bit displeased with some of the things that Ms. Bachman has said which, in Amy's opinion, erroneously referenced the constitution, and other things.

In a very well written open letter to the congresswoman the high school student expressed a desire to debate her about what Amy calls "factually incorrect" statements that Ms. Bachman has made regarding public education, the constitution, and civic maters in general. Amy wants to pit her high school education knowledge against the congresswoman's.

You can take a look at Amy's challenge for yourself:

"Rep. Bachmann, the frequent inability you have shown to accurately and factually present even the most basic information about the United States led me to submit the following challenge, pitting my public education against your advanced legal education:

I, Amy Myers, do hereby challenge Representative Michele Bachmann to a Public Forum Debate and/or Fact Test on The Constitution of the United States, United States History and United States Civics."

That's a bold statement and deserves a response.

You would certainly expect government officials to have a thorough knowledge of what our history, laws, and constitution really mean. Many times politicians will exaggerate, and skirt around the edge of what is true in order to further their political careers. Bending the facts to suit their purposes makes many people angry. It also shows that politicians think the American public wants lip service to the issues. The electorate is not intelligent enough to know fact from fiction.

Amy, you go girl. If Michele Bachmann is serious about a Presidential run she may want to take this challenge seriously or maybe not. Amy just might show how some of our Representatives are not what we think they are.

Michele Bachmann, in all probability, will ignore this challenge. If she does, she shows that she isn't someone worthy of your vote no matter what public office she chose to seek.

I love this story....we need more people like Amy (no relation, lol!) to challenge these idiots in the public service...I'm absolutely sure Bachmann won't accept or even acknowledge receipt of the challenge, and unfortunately many out there will continue to be swayed by her unfounded in truth diatribes...

The high schooler would win. So Bachmann won't debate.

I'd love to see that debate! Unfortunately, Bachmann will never respond to the challenge.

    Good for her.
