High School Student Sparks National Phenomenon

An Exceptional Example for Us All

Ever wonder why, you, seem in a rut? Ever feel like the saying, "the only difference between the rut and the grave is the dirt in your face" is making your cheeks feel muddy? Ever consider that, you; are in fact; worth way more; than that feeling you experience, as a down? But you can't get past that down? Then this article is for you, read on. Do you know someone that is so pleasant when they aren't sucking lemons in a private pity party, but they just don't smile much, anymore? Take heart and read on this article will address what you might be able to do to help them.

First, get next to the reasoning behind a pity party- it may not be selfish, it may be many different factors, one of which can be over anxiety about life. These broad stroke kinds of emotional roller coaster feelings can throw persons emotional equilibrium right out the window. Second, understand if you are the target of your own worse pity party moments, or, empathize with someone caught in those moments. Third, take that bag of goodies and get ready to blast it to pieces- the dynamite of insight is about to hit, ready?

Nobody on earth has it worse than a soldier. They live very rough lives with very low pay, and under very harsh extremes of discipline and routine rules of behavior. The soldier will let you know, very quickly, however, that they don't feel that, instead they feel patriotism, a sense of doing something for their country. Nobody has it worse than a soldier, who walking down the middle of a street with two and three story buildings, doesn't know which one has the barrel of a gun pointed at them- that fear is real. Nobody has it worse than a soldier, who goes down that street, day in, day out, and never knows what the next step will bring- because it very well might be death. That's the hard and true facts of what our soldier's exist in.

But that doesn't mean that you can compare where you are to where they are, because that comparison isn't fair- it doesn't work out emotionally to try to feel what they feel, we simply cannot. But what we can do is let them know we care- and that is the amazing thing that is taking place - a high schooler in her senior year, Shauna Fleming, organized the campaign to say thank you to our troops. Her effort landed on the internet and an amazing site called a million thanks. http://www.amillionthanks.org/

During this entire time, all that came at Shauna could have overwhelmed her, but she was thinking, not about her, but about others. There is the secret to what can put you into an entirely different way of looking at not only others lives, but your life as well. The saying is that when your focus is on others you can't pay attention to your own hurts. The thing about this saying is that it is beyond good.
