High Score with the New Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook

They changed the looks of Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook; going with more intense, glowing and facetted color. More importantly, they changed some of the special gems and how they work. To achieve a high score in the new Bejeweled Blitz, you'll want to pay special attention to a few things:

Five Bejeweled Gems in a Row

This Bejeweled Blitz line up works the same as before, but the resulting special gem has a different name and new hyped-up looks. Instead of a simple glowing gem, it is a huge spinning "hypercube." Make sure to take a split second to check the board and choose the color of gem you flip the hypercube gem with by choosing the color that matches a special gem that is on the board, if you can. This will net you the biggest score results. Otherwise, choose the color that appears the most on the Bejeweled Blitz board at the time. The hypercube gem will blow up all of the gems that match the color of the gem you flipped it with, allowing new gems to fall down in their place, and netting a nice bonus to your score.

Four Bejeweled Gems in a Row

These still get you extra points, but they also get you a special "flame gem," which is worth a 7X bonus if you can make a three to five gem in a row line up with it, or if you blow it up using one of the hypercube gems.

Bejeweled Star Gems

The star gems are new. They look like the old five gem bonus gem would have with the new gem graphics. They don't really pop out at you like the rest of the special gems, so keep an eye out for them. When blown, these gems will light up the board, blowing up everything on the star gem's x and y axis when you make a three to five gem match up.

Bejeweled Blitz Last Harrah

The flame gems and the star gems will score you big numbers, even if you don't get the chance to line them up with another 3 - 5 gem match because Bejeweled also added a "last harrah" stage. When time is up, all the special gems on the boards blow up; adding points to your score (see picture). So, when the timer warning buzzes, just go for speed. Don't worry about making those special gems form a line up if the move isn't obvious. You'll still get a big bang from your special gems, plus you'll get as many of the other three to five gem match up points as you can as you rush towards the finish line.
