High Self Esteem Towards a Better Life

You can create change. Each one of us is endowed with the ability to take control of our self image and program our automatic guidance system for success. There were opposing opinions and assertions on personality among the psychoanalysts and behaviorists. While the psychoanalysts maintained that personality is formed in the unconscious and could not be addressed by conscious effort, the behaviorists contended that only observable behavior was relevant.

However, irrespective of the above arguments, it has been observed under scientific study that real behavioral changes could take place only when the self image is changed. This is because all behavior - all actions, feelings and human capabilities are defined by his image of himself . It doesn't matter what causes a negative self image. What matters is that anyone can take control of his self image and change it to start a new self-fulfilling life.
The old self image is formed by an old script that also directs those negative actions. Write a new and powerful script and aligned your actions accordingly. That is what it all takes for you to succeed.

Without a doubt, it is already recognized today that building an adequate self image is a necessary strategy in the empowerment of individuals and a promising step toward the correction of social ills. Government and private institutions across the United States and around the world have acknowledged the role of individual self esteem in the major concerns of our time.

A new approach to problem solving must hinge on the development of self esteem whereby every aspiring individual must continuously affirm "appreciation of one's own worth and importance and the responsibility to be accountable for self and act responsibly toward others ".
The idea is well received by politicians and the business community. The modern corporate environment has moved away from management -for-control to a style of leadership tailored to bring out the best in people by furthering their self-esteem. Business leaders have acknowledged that while capital and technology are important resources, it is people that make or break a company.

Even social activists have recognized that social ills such as poverty, racism, drug abuse and domestic violence can be effectively addressed by a positive and healthy self esteem. It is not so much more the realm of politics and economics. It is high time every one of us abandons the routine of negatively affirming, "who are we, or who am I to decide......'
We must internalize a brand new affirmation, "I am somebody. I can contribute to the betterment of mankind". That would be self esteem in action.

In schools and other institutions of learning, students fail to excel simply because of a low self esteem arising out of a poor self image which has been programmed into them since childhood. Efforts in the direction of eradicating this poor self image and inculcating a positively powerful new one will have to be undertaken if we want to see our present schooling generation emerge with excellent performances. There will continue to be no light in the hall with the switches all not functioning. Replace the switches and switch them on, you will have a hall illuminated by bright lights. So long as no efforts are made in self esteem building, which is the new paradigm for success, we will continue to linger and loiter in the corridors of limited achievements.
