High Tech Christmas Gifts for the Husband and Kids

Timothy Knuth
It is that time of year again, the time of year that you regret and wish to avoid. That is the sentiment of my wife at least because she is in a quandary as to what to buy her geeky husband who loves technology. So if you are trying to find a gift for your techie husband who geeks out on all the latest gadgets and electronics, then this article is for you.

I have rummaged through a number of sites to bring to you a list of geeky tech items to please almost every geek out there whether they admit it or not. I looked for items that were in the price range of high, medium, and low. Along the way I have stumbles across some cool items that even the kids will like.

Here are some items that I found for adults:

Archos Video & MP3 recorder, this unit will allow you to record video right off your TV, VCR, or camcorder and store as a MP4. It holds up to 40 hours of PM4 vide with sound. Units range from 120 to 300 depending on feature, size, etc.

MSN Smart watch which will require a MSN direct service account will allow your geek to check stocks, weather, news and text messages all within a wrist watch. The watch will set you back about $200.00 but keep in mind that it will also synch up with their calendar in Outlook and when traveling the time will adjust automatically.

One of my favorite items is the by Sharper Image, it is a CD clock radio with Sound Soother, a must have for people who travel all the time. It has 20 soundscapes to help you relax, built in alarm clock, CD playing with ESP (electro shock protection) Price not available at this time

Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset allows you to use what ever headphones that you like that have a 3.5mm jack to listen to your music and manage your phone calls all the while hands free. Average price is about $50.00

For a stocking stuffer look to one of the many USB drives. They have them now disguised as Star Wars and Star Trek figures. Now that is what I would call a geeky tech gift! My personal favorite from the Star Trek items is the USB web cam that looks like the USS Enterprise

And for the young techies at heart I found some really cool toys that I might have to investigate for myself as they look cool and fun to play with too.

Dangerous book for Boys @ 40.00 this electronics kit will help the young tinkerers learn how to build simple circuits and little gadgets.

The Ipod Shuffle @ 60.00 comes with either 2 or 4 gb of memory and is smaller than a key chain. The shuffle comes in a variety of colors

Rubik's cube has a new look and feel with the Touchcube. This item sells for @100.00 and instead of moving the old style bulky sides you swipe the colors with your finger to get them to move.

The Ucreate Music mixer made for kids sells for under 40.00 and allows your child to remix songs, record and create music.

What kid won't love this... a Spy attack vehicle. It is an ATV spy video system that will transmit both audio and video back to a headset. Priced at $80.00 this will give hours of fun to your little spy. You will of course have to be aware next Christmas so that your kids are not using this device on you to find out what their presents will be.

Finally for the kids pile is the EyeClops BioniCam, this unit is a hand help magnifier (up to 400x) with an LCD screen. This unit also allows one to take a picture of what they are viewing and upload them to a computer. Not a bad unit for $70.00. I am thinking that this is perfect for that scientist in your house.
