It's hard to find extra cash around the holidays and budget-friendly places that will put smiles on your kid's faces, but Dallas locals always enjoy NorthPark Mall during the holiday season. Kids will love the popular and fascinating Trains at NorthPark™, so if you have never been, you need to check it out. According to the NorthPark Center web site, the ticket cost is $6 for adults and $3 for kids and seniors, and the 2010 location for the all new The Trains at NorthPark™ exhibit is on Level Two between Barneys New York and Nordstrom. Discount tickets are available at Tom Thumb stores. The exhibit runs from mid-November through the beginning of January, and benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

The Trains at NorthPark are not only fun, but educational too, as children experience the history of trains and the large collection that is owned by Ban Bywaters. According to wfaa.com, the collection includes 100 locomotives, which carry 600 cars, with another 100 cars kept in reserve. The exhibit has evolved from a Christmas scene to a trip across the United States and its landmaks, from San Francisco to New York and the great cities in between, like Washington D.C.

The exhibit fascinates kids and train lovers. Watch trains disappear through tunnels, wind around iconic landmarks like Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty, pass miniature cities and people, and speed down different tracks through deserts and snow capped mountains.

Once you have seen the great train exhibit, you will find NorthPark Mall to be very child-friendly. Besides upscale shops and a number of restaurants to choose from, you should take your kids to a branch of the Dallas Public Library called Bookmarks, where you will find a great selection of children's books and a variety of free programs. Also, catch a glimpse of the turtle and duck pond and the dancing fountain.

You don't want to miss out on all the fun activities at North Park Mall during the holiday season.
