Towering Over Toronto

TravelGirl
During a brief business trip to Toronto, I found myself with a day of free time. As I didn't know the city very well, I decided to purchase a city pass so I could sample some of the city's fare without breaking the bank. At a price of $57.82 (USD), this pass afforded me the chance to see some of Toronto's major attractions.

First on my list was the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), a museum billed as Toronto's largest museum of natural and world history. Designer Michael Lee-Chin created a crystal like structure that houses the newer parts of the museum juts out from the older more stately building. Among my favorite piece in this exhibit were the Canadian totem poles and other artifacts of history unique to this country.

Next up was the CN tower, a telecommunication center that is about 151 stories in height that towers over the Ontario landscape and In only 58 seconds, I was transported via one of the six high-speed glass elevator to the observation deck, which is the main level for viewing the skyline. Once on the observation deck, I walked over the famed glass floor, where you can see directly down to the street level. I chose to purchase a ticket for 8.83 (CAD) that enabled me to access the Sky observation level, which was 33 stories above the main observation level. This proved to be a wise move as the added height gave me some additional fantastic photo opportunities. Following my visit, I could choose to see an attraction film or participate in the motion theater ride. I chose the latter, and while the ride's theme was based on the Amazon not Toronto, that proved to be a fun way to end the day.

The other offerings one can experience via the Toronto CityPass include the Toronto Zoo, the Casa Loma (a castle inside the city limits), and Ontario Science Center. For more information, log on to the Toronto CityPass website. http://www.citypass.com/toronto.
