Highly Anticipated Movies of 2011

Another year in cinema awaits us and movie-goers are getting ready to watch some of Hollywood 's highly anticipated movies. Although this is not an exhaustive list of the most anticipated movies of 2011, these are some of the films with cult followings.

"Scream 4"

This new addition to Wes Craven's trilogy features some of the original cast members and has some new faces as well. Sidney Prescott's reappearance initiates another round of Ghostface killings at her cousin's high school. "Scream 4" is due in theaters April 15, 2011 .

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"

Jack Sparrow returns to the big screen once again in this highly anticipated Disney film. This time Jack teams up with Barbossa to search for the fountain of youth. "Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides" hits theaters May 20, 2011 .

"The Hangover Part II"

This sequel to "The Hangover" was catching buzz once word got out that Mel Gibson was supposed to have a cameo, but was dropped and Liam Neeson replaced him. "The Hangover Part II" opens May 26, 2011 .

"Green Lantern"

Sexy Ryan Reynolds stars in this DC Comics based film about a ring that gives Reynolds amazing powers. He is also in charge of keeping order in the universe. Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard also star in this highly anticipated action film. "Green Lantern" opens on June 17, 2011 .

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1"

Twilight fans can't wait to the see beginning of the end of Twilight. The adventures of Bella, Edward and Jacob will get even crazier when werewolf Jacob falls in love with their child. The first part of "Breaking Dawn" hits the silver screen November 18, 2011 .

"The Adventures of TinTin: The Secret of the Unicorn"

Jamie Bell stars as the Belgian reporter from Herge's comic book adventures. According to Slash Film, Steven Spielberg directs this highly anticipated adaptation that uses the same technology used in "Avatar." This 3D adventure will be released on December 23, 2011 .

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2"

This is probably the most anticipated movie of 2011. The gang goes back to Hogwarts to destroy the final horcruxes. This is an end of an era and it will be exciting to see what the Harry Potter stars do next. The end for Harry, Ron and Hermione begins on July 15, 2011.
