According to American Trucking Associations, the Labor Day Holiday Weekend is one of the biggest highway traveling weekends of the year. With this, they have provided some tips in order to help driver stay safe on the road during this dangerous weekend.

Along with August 26 - September 1 being close to the Labor Day Weekend, it is also known as the National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. With this, America's Road Team along with the American Trucking Association wants to spread the message of some good highway tips to keep you safe during this upcoming busy weekend.

It is going to be a busy weekend. This Labor Day weekend, an overwhelming 30 million drivers are expected to hit the roads only ending up to several miles of congested traffic with several unfortunate accidents because of poor choices. Before you go out this weekend, take a minute to read what America's Road Team Captains advice has to offer.

Before taking a long drive, you should do a "walk around" with your car. What is that? Just doing the basics. It is important to check such things as your vehicles tires, fluids, and wipers. It is also necessary to have your cooling system and radiator serviced. Often times, these things can leave you stranded on the side of the road and could be prevented by just checking ahead of time at your home.

Also know where you are going. It is a proven fact that many accidents are caused because drivers make sudden lane changes to catch the exit they need. By simply knowing the exit number and name, you will save yourself some stress and maybe even your life. This will avoid a lot of panic. If you are not familiar with an area you are heading to, it is important that you pull over in a safe area and have a map on hand, or that you should invest in a GPS system prior to your trip.

It is also important to leave your house early. Speeding is only going to save you a minute or two even though it may seem like it will save you much more. Avoid driving around cars that are going "slow" and simply be patient.

Some other important life saving tips are to avoid tuck blind spots, always have a cell phone but pull over when you want to use it, look 1/4 mile ahead of your path, use your signal lights, yield, never stop on the highway, and most importantly, do not cut off large trucks because they need much more time than a car to brake.

Hopefully these tips will lead you to have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend.
