Hike Bushkill Falls: "The Niagara of Pennsylvania"

Visit Bushkill Falls in the Pocono Mountains of PA

Bushkill Falls is one of the most scenic hiking spots in all of Pennsylvania, located in the woods of the Pocono Mountains. This unique collection of eight waterfalls in PA is easily explored through an extensive network of hiking trails and bridges, reminiscent of Swiss Family Robinson. And if you need a break, Bushkill Falls also has a Pennsylvania Wildlife Exhibit, Native American Exhibit, fishing, paddle boats, and a gift shop. The whole family will have a great time exploring Bushkill Falls together.

Bushkill Falls first opened in 1904 by Charles Peters and the Peters family still owns the property today. In the beginning there was only a single trail and one bridge that went over the 100-foot main falls; today, there are four main trails with varying lengths and difficulties for all ages and abilities. The Main Falls Trail only takes about fifteen minutes, with no hiking required. This walk introduces you to the natural beauty of Bushkill Falls and ends at an overlook for the 100-foot Main Falls, the biggest attraction at Bushkill.

For more extensive waterfall hiking in PA, try the Bridal Veil Falls Trail, Pennell Falls Trail or the Popular Trail. These more advanced waterfall hiking trails take more time and are more strenuous, but allow you to see more of the waterfalls. The Bridal Veil Falls Trail takes you to all eight waterfalls, is about two miles long, and takes an average of two and a half hours to complete. This trail is for more advanced hikers, but the effort is well worth it to take in some of the most beautiful waterfalls in PA.

Bushkill Falls does charge admission: $10 a day for adults, $9 for Seniors, $6 for children ages 4 to 10 and children ages 3 and under are free. Additional fees are charged for various activities such as: trail guide map adventure, paddle boats, miniature golf and more. A list of all fees for activities can be found here. They are closed December through March, and their full operating calendar can be found on their website.
