Hilarious Results with Twitter Acronyms

Guy Siverson
Today on Twitter I received a post from @MamaBeeComedy that started with "YW!"

At the time I seriously could not figure out what those initials meant. So I sent the following post back.

"Does "YW" stand for "your weird" - "yes woman" - "yellow wheelbarrow" - "young worker" or just what?"

I mean after all, it could mean those things. Besides, if you follow me very long while it may become clearly evident that my maleness exempts me from being a "yes woman" I indeed do capitalize on my own variety of weirdness. Seems to me that if I don't have fun with my life, no one else will.

On that note, lets look at some hilarious results with Twitter acronyms:

RT

Traditionally, this one stands for ReTweet. Or you can use @Jawar's PRT version where you ReTweet a portion of the Twitter profile which helps the tweeted invidual gain exposure across the Twitter Universe.

However, why couldn't RT mean any of the following?

* Revolting Tweeter
* Retire Twitter
* Rescuing Tweeple
* Revived Teletypes
* Reborn Tweets

It could! But what did I miss? You tell me in comments below. Let's move to the next.

DM

Normally people understand these initials as well as "D" by itself to be referring to Direct Messages. But what if the person was really trying to say:

* Don't Mock
* Dilbert Mentions
* Discovered Measles
* Doing Macarena
* Delivering Money

Who knew? Share with us other thoughts of what DM might really mean on Twitter and I'll move to the next common acronym on Twitter.

TY

Generally means Thank You on Twitter. But what if...

* Taxi Yellow (Okay, this person would clearly be confused but like that's not a common occurrence on Twitter?)
* Tickling You
* Tracking Yodelers (How exactly you do that with tweets would be beyond me.)
* Taking Yields
* Tough Youth

Some of the above make no sense, which is exactly my point. Think outside the box and have fun when you are on Twitter. Be original. Be different. Be fun. And you will find yourself to be followed.

What else could TY mean?

Here are 5 more acronyms to share creative meanings for just below.

* ROFL (Or my favorite twist ROLF, which of course means rolling on laughing floor. The visual is priceless.
* LOL
* BRB
* AOKAY (Wait that's not an acronym at all. Silly me. Be silly!)
* Right now, I can't think of a fifth example, so share yours below.

And for the record, after thinking of the above Twitter acronyms, I must tell you that "YW" actually stood for Your Welcome but what else might it have meant and how else can we experience hilarious results with acronyms on Twitter.
