At the Junction City event, Clinton was warm and welcoming to the voters. She understood that not everyone had made up their minds, and she was trying her best to help them make the decision. Clinton was honestly concerned about people's questions and worries. She started by explaining that she is not giving up; she knows the votes can still go her way. This is so important because many people have given up on her receiving the Democratic nomination that they aren't bothering to vote in the primary election.
Senator Clinton talked a lot about the specific issues facing the state of Oregon. She explained her vote against the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill, which takes the rights away from the communities from having a say what is happening with their liquid natural gas terminals. Clinton is also made it her priority to deal with the issues facing Oregon. She plans to make sure all of Oregon's old growth forests are protected. Clinton also wants to help with the depletion of the wild salmon, which is a problem that is having a large effect on Oregon locals. I think it is great that Clinton is making sure that Oregonians are getting the attention that they deserve. I think Oregon is a state often over-looked. I think Clinton is doing her part to make sure that Oregonians get things they need.
Clinton is also proposing that there should be two presidential debates in Oregon. There is no presidential debate in the Pacific Northwest, so this would be a good way to make sure Oregonians' voices get heard. Clinton plans on adopting a Oregon compact that will focus directly on the issues Oregon is dealing with. She talked about her plan to bring more green jobs to Oregon, and she also wants to make sure Oregon gets on the right path toward energy security.
I believe that if voters were undecided before attending this event, they would have been convinced that Clinton is the right person for the job. When Clinton talked about ending the war in Iraq she was met with a huge applause. Clinton talked about how it is important to her to not only end the war in Iraq and to make sure that the soldiers are brought home in a timely manner, she also wants to make sure that injured and returning service members get the help they deserve. At the end of the event, Clinton got a standing ovation. Clinton took the time after the event to talk to several people and answer questions they had. I know that every person I talked to was very impressed with Clinton and her attitude toward voters. I thought that Clinton did a good job of combining a very warm personality with the tenacity to get things done.
I hope everyone makes sure to vote. This primary is very close and everyone's vote matters. I believe that the Democratic presidential primary will come down to the last few votes. Make sure the person you want is nominated.
