Hillary Clinton for President?

A Woman for President a New Perspective. Is it Time for a Change?

Maddy Fox
Wow! Who would have thought a woman running for President of the United States Of America! Would our for fathers sit in awe? Are they turning over in their graves? Not so long ago woman were fighting for the right to vote and now we have a woman candidate competing for Presidential election! Should sexual gender even matter? I for one say no. All I want to know is will he/she follow through with their promises! It is easy to say I will do this or that for the people but then when elected forget about the promises they made, the reasons we chose to vote for them. I am not real savvy when it comes to politics, I can tell you in layman's terms what I as a citizen of the USA would like to have happen or what I look for in a President or which issues I agree or disagree with.

I do not agree with all of Hillary's issues but many of them I must say really hit home for me. Making a stand and strengthening the middle class American! Who wouldn't like to see this?

1) Make health care affordable and accessible to every American- I feel health care is not a luxury but should be a given, like the air we need to breathe, nobody should have to suffer according to whether they can or can not pay.

2) Expand access to affordable, high-quality child care- If a parent or both parents have to work they should be able to leave their children with safe and affordable child care providers and not feel the need or desperation to choose Jane Doe out of the local newspaper because that is all they can afford.

3) Protect families from predatory lenders and help them avoid foreclosures- The interest rates these predatory lenders charge are absurd. Yes they may have had credit issues but my making them pay even more only sets them up for failure.

5) Create good jobs with good wages to expand the middle class- The need for decent jobs with decent pay needs to match that of the never ending, constantly rising living costs.

6) Balance the federal budget so we don't pass today's massive debts to the next generation. Balance would be nice, but I feel our government has gotten the USA in above their heads. Good luck on this one!

7) Reward savings, protect pensions, and provide greater retirement security- Again all great issues but again how many people can even afford to invest in retirement these days.

I think these issues address many valid problems in the U.S. If the average Joe makes a decent living, he in turn invests his money as a consumer which again makes the corporations happy as well as balancing economy and ending the ridicules made by the wealthy that they are tired of taking up the slack.

So what do you think? I say more concern regarding the issues these candidates support as apposed to their gender. Although I must say as a woman, it is wonderful to see such an accomplishment in my life time. As far as future President just do what you say, follow through with your promises, make a difference as a leader that we can all benefit from and respect!

Who will I vote for? Sorry it is my biggest secret! Not even my family knows the answer to that question!

Hillary is no doubt the best choice to lead our nation back into a positive light. She is the most experienced candidate, she is educated, strong and has a solid and sound answer when asked without bumbling. If we're going to have a change occur it should be someone as smart and forthright as Hillary. She will keep her promises, as there really isn't a choice in this time in our history. Afterall, look at all the unkept promises from our current idiot leader. And shame on you "NO Women Presidents" - you sound like the damn terrorists that got us into this war in the first place.

I am all for a woman candidate for President. I am also a black candidate, so there are two new choices. However, more that anything else I'm for getting out of Iraq and for instituting a better environmental policy. Therefore, if Gore joined the race I would vote for him. Great thought prevoking article.

I really liked this article! I think it's great to see a woman perform so well in the running for the presidency, too! I'm not positive I'd vote for her, but it's still a wonderful thing for girls/women in our country to see, a woman making it so far.

I agree, it will be an interesting primary for sure. I can't wait to see who the candidate is going to be!

It should be an interesting primary on the Dem. side and probably an interesting election no matter who the candidate is.
