Hillary Clinton's Class Act at the DNC

A Bad Night for Hillary Haters

Louisa Burgess
Ed Rendell, Governor of Pennsylvania was asked by a CNN reporter immediately after her speech tonight at the Democratic National Convention, "Do you think Obama made a mistake by not choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate?" Rendell, smiled broadly and chuckled, answering that Joe Biden is a great choice but by golly she was amazing tonight. He ended that interview that he hopes he's around when she runs for President again in eight years.

Hillary supporters cried, called her presidential and most though not all said they would do just as she says and support Barack Obama. Are there still hold outs? Yes, but most likely they too will come around. That's politics in America.

The accolades just kept coming and coming until of course Larry King's Republican panel took the air waves with their criticisms but by golly, even they had praise for her speech, her tenacity, her fight. They smiled and acknowledged how well she did her job.

She hit her marks, she praised Obama she made a clarion call for unity and she called for her delegates to vote for him. She made convincing arguments as to why those 18 million folks who voted for her in the primaries need to vote for Obama. She reminded them that she wasn't in the race for herself, but for people without health care, people who make the minimum wage, the homeless, people who live day to day in our great country. She applauded Senator Joe Biden, his wife and Michelle Obama. She was strong, she was feisty, she was smart and she was funny. She brought everyone to their feet, even the television reporters. She did what was expected and more. James Carville called it a major league fastball. The pundits claimed they never saw as gracious and generous a speech by the loser before. She hit McCain and Bush harder than any of the men before her on the agenda had even dared.

"No way, no how, no McCain!" She probably coined the Democrats best rallying cry to date.

Hillary Clinton did all this on the anniversary of women getting the right to vote in America, with her daughter by her side. Her proud husband, President Clinton, could hardly contain himself, he looked like someone who had just fallen in love. By golly, even the Obama supporters were on their feet smiling and waving Hillary signs. She was, as they say, a class act.

It was a very good night for Democrats. It was a very good night for old women, middle aged women, young women and little girls. As Carville put it, "It was a bad night for Hillary haters."

She's my HERO! Any Hillary supporter who would vote for McCain instead is on the wrong track. He does NOT support women or the causes that concern us. I wish she were the nominee, but I will definitely vote Obama.

Hillary did an outstanding job! I loved her speech. Bill's brought tears to my eyes tonight. Everything I was feeling and thinking about what has happened with the Bush Administration, he captured BRILLIANTLY and communicated with such great compassion in his speech. Nice job, Louisa.

Great job and we are mourning the Hillary for president campaign. Hope she gets it in four years!

She did an amazing job. The problem is, her speech confirmed the fact that she should be the nominee. When she spoke, it became evident to the world that the DNC backed the wrong horse. Even conservatives like myself understand that she should be the nominee. DNC leaders are brain dead.

She did a great job.....why, oh why, isn't she the nominee? :-)
