Hillary Clinton's Health Plan

Just Say NO!

Clark Richards
Hillary Clinton has just introduced a proposed health plan for all Americans and I applaud her compassion for those that are uninsured. However, I don't believe America can afford it. One should be afraid, be very afraid. If you are a member of middle America be wary. This proposal will cost dearly.

While government involvement in a few endeavors improves our lives. For the most part government mandates and regulations are not particularly effective. Did the government protect us from the dangerous toys that have been introduced to our children by the Chinese? Did the government protect those that lost fortunes to the likes of Enron and others? Are you already feeling the pinch of taxes and just wish you could escape some of the burden?

Hillary Clinton's proposal which was defeated once is getting ready to expose its' ugly head again and it will cost middle America an arm and a leg as well as diminish the quality of existing medical services. Health care costs what it costs. It will not cost less if the government monitors it or creates mandates and regulations. It fact it will likely cost more.

One can think of it this way - everyone ought to have an automobile. It is essential for transport to work, to complete shopping tasks for essentials and to carry out a myriad of family tasks. Some can afford luxurious vehicles, some have more modest desires and some can exist without one during the period they save to acquire it. However everyone should have a vehicle. Clinton's proposal would insure that government subsidizes the purchase for those that can't afford one. Who will pay? Middle America will pay. Perhaps it will be hidden as a form of increased taxes on corporations, but they will simply raise prices to compensate for the cost and middle American consumers will pay. Perhaps they will not hire additional employees and middle America is hurt again. Nothing is free, except advice. Do you really believe that "buy one - get one free" does not generate profits.

Sadly, her proposal will draw lots of support from those that believe they have some unearned right to free or reduced price health care. They are uninformed.

There is a safety net for those that truly can't afford care. The stories of tragedy for the uninsured are overblown and make great headlines, but they are exaggerated by those that would want to force socialistic policies on us. There are policies in effect to help the truly needy. Subsidized health care will create another welfare generation.

Leave me alone. I will take care of my family. If a neighbor needs help, I will help, but don't make me pay for those that are unwilling to earn what is necessary for their health care needs. Call Hillary Clinton's office and say no thanks! (202) 224-4451.

47 million uninsured Americans is costing us money, too. It's a tough problem with no easy solution, but one day, we have to face the piper. Employers cannot drop the ball on this either. Thanks for the interesting perspective.

I understand what you mean, but at the same time I think that we need to come up with a resolution. I am a college student and I just recently lost my health insurance. I have medical bills that are thousands of dollars. Meanwhile I have TWO jobs. I can say that I am working just as much as you if not more. I do come from a background of poverty, but should I be denied affordable and excellent health care because of that. NO!

Should I be left with thousands of dollars of medical bills because I don't have health insurance? Everyone is always concerned with middle class, what about us? The poor, the working poor, what about us? There is no point getting health insurance that is going to leave me with a huge co-pay for medicine and doctor visits!

Until you walk in the shoes of being uninsured I think you need to take others situations into consideration!

Much better to spend millions on killing than health care, right?
