Hillary Rodham Clinton Enters Race for Presidency

"I'm In."

Saturday, January 20, 2007, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton announced that she is officially taking the first step in seeking the most revered seat in government in the United States - President. Her website announcement quite simply of, "I'm In", was to the point and direct. She has formed a presidential exploratory committee. She states that she is "beginning a conversation with America". This announcement comes as no surprise since there has been speculation of her anticipated run for the presidency since she decided to enter politics as a Senator of New York in 2000.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will start the week full speed ahead with campaign activities all week long. She will be having "live online video chats starting this week Monday". These chats provide anyone who has an interest in learning more about Hillary Rodham Clinton becoming President of the United States to get involved. She will culminate the week with a visit to Iowa, the state whose caucuses will launch the nominating process next year.

If Hillary Clinton wins, she will be the first woman to hold the office of President. An interesting thought, no one is more suited to being the first "First Gentleman" of the United States than a former President. Former President Bill Clinton stands behind his wife's political aspirations one hundred percent.

Hillary Clinton enters this Presidential race as a front-runner. Not only is she the most well known candidate but she also has strong support of women and African Americans. Her tenure as Senator has proven her to be one willing to work with both parties for the good of the American people. Hillary Rodham Clinton also has an extensive fundraising network that will surely be of benefit to her run for the presidency.

The issues Hillary Rodham Clinton addresses are real issues of the American people. She has long been a strong advocate of children, health care, social security, Medicare, and women. She states in her announcement that as President she will "bring the right end to the war in Iraq" as well as working to make our United States "energy independent". These are topics on most Americans' minds. Hillary articulates, "After six years with George Bush, let's renew the promise of America."

Whether you believe that HIllary Rodham Clinton is the candidate for you or not, we as Americans, need to become informed and educated as we choose the next President of the United States of America. There are already a number of candidates who have expressed an interest in running for President in 2008. We need to take the time to listen and read and watch and decide who we feel is the best candidate for President, and then we need to vote. We need to vote in the Primaries as well as the General Election in 2008 to make the fate of our country a bright future.

Will they call him the First Gentleman? And what about the honorific Mr. President- could be confusing when your wife is Madam President. Great article.

Great article Renee! I think there will be a number of interesting (and controversial) candidates in this next election and it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I tend to question her electability with White Water, a impeached husband, and the fact that some people just will not vote at this time for a woman (hey only 40% of the people in this Country believe in Evolution campared to 80% in most Northern European Countries.) I wish her the best but I think her chances are small. Very good and thought provoking article.

Great article Renee! "First Gentleman" would take a little getting used to. I wonder if he would expand the rose garden visit kids in schools and tell them to "say no to drugs" as part of his role? Interesting to think about.

Good article Renee! Now if we can get some ultra-conservatives to listen and check out the other candidates instead of voting for what they are told is the BEST! The USA might have a chance to succeed beyond 2008. If only!
