Hillary's Fugitive Fundraiser Captured

Hsu Arrested in Colorado

The government has arrested Norman Hsu, the fugitive from justice who was a big fundraiser for Senator Hillary Clinton and other Democrats. Hsu was arrested Thursday night in Grand Junction, Colorado for skipping out on a California court after his fraud conviction in 1992. Clinton and the other Democrats for whom he has raised money claim not to have known about his fraud conviction, even though it was a matter of public record.

We're supposed to take Mrs. Clinton's assertion that she has returned the money at face value, despite a pattern in her campaigns and those of her husband of taking illegal contributions, some of which threaten national security.

Hsu is reportedly tied to the Chinese People's Liberation Army, which was also the ultimate source of contributions that came to President Clinton in his 1996 re-election campaign from the Lippo Group, Johnny Chung, and Little Rock restauranteur Charlie Trie, whose contributions were vastly in excess of his means. What do the Red Chinese (who have nuclear warheads pointed at our country) think they're getting from the Clintons?

About the time that China was funding President Clinton's re-election campaign, he gave permission to sell the Chinese technology that helped them work the nuclear and military technology that they had stolen under the Reagan and Bush Administrations.

And then there is the Peter Paul case. Paul, a businessman from California, was a principal organizer of the Hollywood Gala Farewell Concert Salute to President Clinton, held on August 12, 2000. It was a major fundraising event for Mrs. Clinton's Senate campaign. The campaign failed to report $721, 000 in connection with the event.

Paul laid out $1.2 million to organize the event. That vastly exceeds the contribution limits set forth by Federal law. Clinton's campaign treasurer, Andrew Grossman, admitted to the Federal Elections Commission that he filed three false reports on the event. The fourth, final report is also false, showing Paul's onetime partner, Stan Lee (creator of Spiderman) as having contributed far in excess of the legal limit. Paul and Lee were partners in Stan Lee Media.

When the Washington Post reported on the gala two days after the fact, Hillary Clinton denied knowing Paul.

Hillary allowed these reports to be filed, even after being notified that they were false. This renders her a co-conspirator in the false filing. But a Clinton lying in a sworn statement is no surprise to anyone who has followed the careers of this couple. As William Safire wrote, the Clintons are "congenital liars."

Can't the Clintons raise enough money legally? Why must they resort to illegal fundraising time after time?
