Hindu Leader Not Charged

Controversial Indian-American Hindu religious leader Dr. Commander Selvam Siddhar from Tamil Nadu, India has been vindicated of his recent criminal charges!

Gwinnett County Georgia District Attorney Danny Porter decided not to charge the founder of the Hindu Temple of Georgia with theft and practicing medicine without a license. Porter said last week that he found insufficient evidence to proceed with the cases. And that the cases originally stemmed from the Gwinnett County Police confusion over the law involving practicing medicine without a license, and whether Dr. Commander Selvam was really the individual who processed the charges against his followers' credit cards.
Dr. Commander turned himself in to Gwinnett County Sheriffs last November. They had a warrant for theft and practicing medicine without a license. An ex-devotee of the temple located in Norcross, Georgia had accused him of charging her credit card without permission and another woman claimed he gave her medical advice!

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said the state law for practicing medicine without a license provides an exception for religious healers. He also said that there was no evidence linking Sri. Selvam to the credit card charges. Jerry Froelich, his attorney, said he was confident all along that the charges would be dropped. "They were neither supported by facts, nor the law," said Froelich.

In a telephone interview, Dr. Commander said that the case was fabricated by two conspirators against the temple and a Gwinnett County police detective. "The facts that the supposed victim of the medicine charge was both a medical doctor and the niece of the wife of a conspirator, who was trying to bring down the Temple out of jealousy, showed the ridiculousness of the charge, and were left out of all previous media reports."

The two alleged conspirators, Valmiki Raghunathan and Chandramohan Loganathan who each have been accused of physically attacking the Hindu Temple's priests, enlisted the help of a local television reporter and the Gwinnett County Police Corporal, in their ongoing efforts to destroy the Temple, according to Dr. Selvam. According to an unnamed Gwinnett D.A. staff member, "All the Corporal needed to bring the charges was one signature from a magistrate."

These charges were just the latest attempt in an ongoing series of false accusations and other criminal acts by these co-conspirators, according to the Hindu Temple Chief Pundit L.V. Sharma. He said that the two have been involved in Terroristic Threats, Assault and Battery, Harassing Phone Calls, Theft, Attempted Extortion, Influence of a Witness, and Defamation, as well as "Cyber Terrorism."
