Hines Ward Performs a Joyful Jive on 'Dancing with the Stars' Week 8

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson brought a little joy to the ballroom during "Dancing with the Stars" week 8, thanks to a fleet-footed Instant Jive that earned the popular NFL star the title of "Mr. Happy Feet" and helped him to once again land near the top of the judges' leaderboard.

Responsible for learning two completely different individual dances for the first time, Ward struggled during rehearsals with mastering the tricky Jive. He worried over not knowing the musical selection in advance, but he and Johnson persevered, and appeared more than ready when go-time rolled around.

Following their fun and flirtatious round one Foxtrot, which earned them an impressive score of 28 points, Ward selected the music for their Jive from a hat: Jerry Lee Lewis' "Chantilly Lace". After just 20 minutes of practice time, they hit the "Dancing with the Stars" ballroom in grand fashion, carrying out their energetic Jive with delightful aplomb. The footwork wasn't perfect, but Ward and Johnson's chemistry certainly was, and they infused the ballroom with an electric, fun-filled vibe.

Bruno Tonioli dubbed him "Mr. Happy Feet", but went on to liken him to a penguin thanks to the flat-footedness that typified the star's movements. Carrie Ann Inaba called the dance "amazing" and loved how Ward stuck with the beat of the music. Len Goodman finished off the judges' critique by calling the effort "fantastic".

The duo scored 26 points for their Instant Jive, that when added to their ballroom score of 28, gave them a "DWTS" week 8 total of score of 54. Can Hines Ward and Kym Johnson survive tonight's elimination? "Dancing with the Stars" fans would be crazy to send them home, but you never know which celeb will be sent packing when results time rolls around.
