Hints and Cheats for the Sims 2

Maggie OLeary
I have played Sims for a while, but haven't gotten as much into it as other players. Therefore, I'm not really familiar with a lot of the cheat codes that can be used to enhance one's experience while playing Sims.

Recently while playing Sims 2, I had a family of Sims where the parents wouldn't really take care of the baby but the older brother would. The baby had already been in and out of his crib and around the house a lot of times when suddenly no one would go in the room to put the baby in the crib or even pick him up-not even the brother. The mother set the baby on the floor and then no one would pick the up again. I called a nanny to help and she wouldn't pick him up either. All of them had a thought bubble with something that like looked like a wall or a mirror in it. It was a large gray rectangle. I just could not figure out what was wrong.

There was nothing new or changed about the house. I ended up having to move the whole family to a new house because it was too horrible watching the baby on the floor with no one willing or able to pick him up. The whole family including the baby came to the new house, which solved my problem for right then. I was curious as to what had happened, and how I could ensure that it wouldn't happen again.

In order to ensure that I didn't run into the same situation in the future, I talked to some of my friends that also play Sims 2. I found out that for some reason when the person put down the baby, they put them down in a place that didn't have enough space for anyone to pick them up. There was nothing visually blocking it, but Sims can be picky about their space. From talking to other people that encountered this problem, I found that the only thing you could do if you didn't want to move was use the move objects cheat. To use a cheat code, hold down CTRL + SHIFT + C while playing the game and a small text box will pop up in the corner. Type 'move_objects' into that box and then hit ENTER. Go into buy mode, and you should be able to click on the object and move it around. You should try placing it either in the middle of a large space like the living room, or even outside. Good luck, and have fun!
