See where the dry fertilizer begins and ends
One of the most common complaints about fertilizing lawns and gardens with dry fertilize is how can you tell where you already fertilized? Sometimes it's hard to tell and you don't want to waste time and fertilizer covering a section that you already covered. A great way to easily tell where you fertilized is to mix some flour in with the fertilizer before you spread it on your lawn or garden. The white flour will help you to see where you have already fertilized and where you didn't, and the white flour will mix well with the fertilizer.
Egg shells for easy fertilizing
Did you know that by placing egg shells in your garden or flower bed that it will help with the plant growth? Most people don't know this little trick and it is safe for the soil. The egg shells do not decompose easily so you will have to crush them first before placing them into the soil. After crushing them, sprinkle the shells around your plants and flowers. To make them even more effective, use a trowel or your fingers to work them into the soil.
Easy way to aerate your garden and lawn
An easy way to save time when working in your garden or lawn is to wear golf shoes. Yes, I said golf shoes. When you wear a pair of golf shoes in your garden or on the lawn, the cleats from the shoes work themselves into the ground making it a great opportunity to aerate the ground. You can do this by simply walking around in your garden or on your lawn. To get a better effect from the shoes, wiggle and dig your feet into the ground a little to aerate the soil even more.
Keep weeds in your lawn and garden at bay
When you are fertilizing your lawn in the summer time, make sure not to use a heavy dose of fertilizer. Doing this will stimulate the weeds and may cause them to grow faster. When applying fertilizer, remember to always apply to damp soil, never apply to dry soil.
Make use of your pet fish's water
If you have a pet fish and you are cleaning out his fish bowl or aquarium, don't pour the water down the drain. You can use this water to water your roses or your vegetables in your garden. The water from your fish bowl or aquarium is loaded with minerals which are excellent for your plants and garden.
These are simple hints and tips that you can do yourself to keep your garden and lawn looking beautiful. Help your garden and lawn by using them right now.
