The following is a list of my favorite independent store fronts in Denver, Colorado, that are littered with urban, hip, indie, artsy items. Products range from clothing to accessories from housewares products to art pieces. Come check out these stores that are filled with great products, super service, and an awesome environment.

The 400 - "Independent creative services firm with a unique twist."

If you're looking for some loud, hip, stylish kick's, then The 400 is the shop for you. With thirteen different brands, their shoes range all the colors of the rainbow. Shoe brands include Alife, Creative Recreation, Etnies Plus, Gravis, New Balance, Onitsuka Tiger, Saucony, Undrcrwn, Upper Playground, and much more. Tee's and bags also litter the shop.

Indy Ink

Indy Ink is a "... Denver owned and operated Apparel boutique and Screen printing shop. We started in 2002 (out of the owner's house) and moved to our Broadway location in the spring of 2004. We believe in small business and community."

Indy ink carries brands like Cardboard Robot, Change the Thought, Craze, Milk Baby, Fresh Jive, Side B, Upper Playground, Xthreadz, and much more including their own brand INDYINK.

Chielle - "we heart u. yes u."

Chielle carries a blend of accessories, clothing and housewares. It's a gathering place for music and visual expression. Chielle was voted the Best New Store on Broadway. The store carries national brands and local brands with great prices.

Raves Oh My Goth

Even if you're not a big fan of gothic clothing, you can still find cool products at Raves Oh My Goth.The Colfax store carries a collection of different unique products. There's a wide selection of leather products, adult lingerie, purses, shoes and heels (as high as you can imagine), funky sunglasses, and aisles of stockings (fishnet, striped, neon colors, etc).

Raves Oh My Goth was voted in the Westword Magazine as the 2006 best place for Deadly Fashion. The 8,500 square foot store carries Lip-Service, Tripp, Heavy Red, Lucky 13, and New Rock Boots. Raves also will produces custom made corsets.

Square 1 - "Experience a truly unique shopping experience."

Square 1 is a fashion boutique located in the metro Denver area of Larimer Square. Square 1 carries hand picked high end fashion pieces.

Fancy Tiger - "DIY Boutique that carries yarn, fabric, patterns, local music, men and women's apparel, jewelry, bags, and a ton of other cool things."

Fancy Tiger is an indie crafters dream. Mathew and Jamie own the shop that not only sells products but also holds classes and monthly trunk shows. Fancy Tiger carries patterns, fabric and yarn with hip modern design prints on them. The store also conducts craft classes, such as sewing, crochet, spinning, needlepoint, book binding, embroidery, candle making, soap making, jewelry classes and more.

Pandora's Jewelry has been located in the Capital Hill area since 1994. Their products include an array of candles, incense, lamps, cards, handbags, jewelry, and much much more.

Unity Boutique

Unity's Mission is to offer affordable, unique style pieces for both women and men in the Denver community.

"Megan Smith 22 and Sarah Hussion 26 are merchants on a mission. They hatched the idea for Unity, their contemporary clothing boutique at 1455 S. Pearl St., while studying business at the University of Denver. 'We like thinks that are produced in a socially responsible way,' says Smith. The store sells women's and men's clothes made from eco-friendly fabrics such as bamboo, looks for companies that use fair trade labels and supports such local firms as 2 Red hens, which donated a portion of its handbag sales to cervical cancer research."

The Perfect Petal
