Hippie Gifts - Holiday and Everyday Gift Ideas
Inexpensive and Simple Gifts Sure to Please Any Hippie
Black Lights:
You might think this idea seems too simple or even too hard to find but I promise you it's neither of those things. You can go to almost any shopping mall and find shops that carry a variety of black lights. They range in sizes from six inches to three feet long. There are also a variety of black lights that spin or have other unique designs. Maybe you're thinking that your hippie friend surely has or has had many black lights. The problem is that the average hippie lost track of their favorite black lights quite some time ago. So, keep this novelty item at the top of your holiday shopping list and pick one up for you favorite hippie.
Black Light Posters:
This is one of the most inexpensive gifts you can purchase to please a hippie. Just about every novelty store carries an assortment of black light posters. If you know that the hippie you're gifting has a black light already, there's no finer accessory to purchase for them than a really cosmic black light poster. Try to choose something with a wild design or an image that's sure to make everyone smile. The more colorful the poster, the better. Posters can usually be purchased for anywhere from five to twenty dollars, depending on the size and popularity. Keep this simple idea in mind when shopping for your dead head friends.
Candles and Incense:
No real hippie would be caught dead without a decent stash of incense. There are so many stores that sell so many varieties of candles and incense that this gift idea is a gold mine. Find out what scents your favorite hippie enjoys most and start from that point. If there favorite scent is floral, a variety of floral scented candles and incense would be a terrific idea. If they enjoy a more manly scent , try musk or ocean scented varieties. The best part of making this purchase is that you can do it in almost any store you shop in. You don't have to go somewhere out of your way or special, It's simple, easy, and inexpensive and yet sure to please any hippie.
Stash Boxes:
Every hippie needs a stash box to store their hemp for jewelry making. This gift is one that you can purchase in many places or if you feel like keeping it green this year, make your own. Ideally, you should choose a box that has some type of decoration that makes it personal to the hippie you're gifting it to. Craft stores are great places to purchase simple wood stash boxes that you could decorate yourself to gift away. Be sure to include a note to make the gift even more personal. It's a sure fire hippie pleaser.
Vintage Albums:
Purchasing the proper albums for a hippie friend may require a little investigative work. You might want to casually start a conversation about your all time favorite albums and then ask each person which album they wanted but never purchased. Find a way to find out what your hippie friend is missing in their old album collection. You could also start a conversation asking each person what album they wore the grooves out on . Replacing an old favorite could be a greater gift than purchasing something they've never had. Most cities have vintage record stores now so, be sure to take your time and try to find albums in mint condition. It's also a smart note to look for albums that still have original promotional posters inside. It's like getting two gifts in one!
Decorative Curtain Beads:
This is another gift idea that can be ideally suited for a male or female hippie. Curtain beads come in many varieties and styles. The more masculine beads are usually wood and sometimes have a painted design. Others are very simple and have the look of bamboo. Department stores carry some that are made of very colorful beads that would be more suitable for a hippie chick. These beads can be hung in any doorway or used in front of sheer drapes on any window. They give a real feel of that seventies hippie thing going on. Consider purchasing a velvet tablecloth along with the beads and watch that hippie smile light up!
Whatever you choose to purchase as a gift for a hippie, remember to consider that most freaks would be tickled if you purchased them a green or recycled gift. It's perfectly acceptable to shop for gifts in re-sale shops. The key is to purchase something unique to the individual you're gifting. Keeping things personal will show all the thought you put into the gift. Have fun with your shopping this year and Peace to all !

Post a CommentThis article cracked me up. As a former "hippie" you hit just about every gift I would have loved. The only thing missing was a big floppy suede hat and a matching long-fringed jacket. Great memories. Thanks.
