Spaten Brau is the brew of choice at the Hippodrom beer tent. There is also sparkling wine served in the Hippodrom beer tent, a deportation from Munich Oktoberfest tradition. Serving sparkling wine has attracted many people who enjoy the Munich Oktoberfest atmosphere but hate the beer served in every other Oktoberfest tent.
Young men love the Hippodrum beer tent for the same reason that many people despise it: it is considered a ritzy and slightly naughty place. Performers dance in very revealing outfits, the clothing of choice usually being extremely short dirndls. The Hippodrom beer tent is notorious for these "striptease" dancers, especially after an incident in which a Hippodrom performer flashed her breasts to the Hippodrom crowd.
In recent years, celebrities, from Germany and many other countries (even the United States!) have been showing up at the Hippodrom beer tent. This, in turn, attracts even more young and attractive visitors who hope to rub shoulders with and obtain autographs from the many celebrities. The high popularity has made reserving seating in the Hippodrom beer tent more exclusive than any other Oktoberfest tent. This has fostered some anger among those who are unable to get in the Hippodrom beer tent, despite attempting to get seats for this Oktoberfest tent months in advance. Many people believe that seats are given out purely on "who you know," meaning that if you don't have decent connections, you will likely not find a seat in the Hippodrom beer tent. Although the Hippodrom beer tent gets the brunt of the criticism for this supposed VIP treatment, the high level of exclusivity has become a feature of nearly every Oktoberfest tent. The situation just happens to be exacerbated in the Hippodrom beer tent because it is a lot smaller than every other Oktoberfest tent.
The best features of the Hippodrome beer tent include the cozy bar in the mezzanine, the hearty Bavarian cuisine, and a ton of international flair. Many people are attracted to this Munich Oktoberfest tent by the flamboyance and luxury found there.
It is exceedingly difficult to get a spot in the Hippodrom beer tent, even if you try to get reservations for this Oktoberfest tent super early. But it is worth the effort-if you are lucky enough to get in the Hippodrom beer tent, you will be rewarded with world-class beer and sparkling wine, delicious Bavarian food, and a unique twist of Bavarian tradition and international culture.
