Hiring an Intern to Boost Your Startup Business

Need an extra hand running your startup business but really do not have the money to pay a full time employee just yet? Hiring an intern may be the answer.

As they prepare to enter an increasingly tough job market college students are more willing than ever to prove their worth in their chosen career field and what an intern lacks in experience they usually make up for in pure enthusiasm and drive. It is in essence a win win situation for you both.

The intern gets to experience life in the "real world" and gain valuable experience to feature on their resume while the startup business owner get the extra help they need at a very minimal cost.

But how best to go about finding an intern? The careers office at local colleges is of course a great place to start. Let them know what you are looking for, what compensation you are willing to offer (expenses plus a very minimal wage is the norm) and the basic job duties you would be asking an intern to undertake and the college should be able to do the rest.

Alternately you could try using the power of social media to help you find the right intern for you. Post a job listing on Facebook, or Twitter or search Linkedin for savvy students who are already networking in preparation for entering the world of work.

Hiring an intern to work in your start up business should give you something that every startup or small business owner would love to have - an employee that is keen to work, free of the bad habits that older workers have already picked up and the extra helping hand that just may take your startup business to the "next level".
