HIS SMILE

Ode to Love

Maricia D. C. Johns
When that man smiles

Lord Jesus

My heart has palpitations for miles

He is

He is. . . . .

He is

He can ask me anything

at anytime

And I can tell him no

without even spending one thin dime

But when he ask

and smiles ever so slightly at me

It's like what do you want me to be

When he smiles

the word no does not seem to exist

It's like whatever, whatever,

seek and desist

I close my eyes

I see his smile, which seems much bigger than it's size

As angry as I've been

the smile he flashes makes amends

When we disagree over something so simple

his smile is much too ample

I tell him we won't and I insist that we don't

but his smile says that we will, because it's what we both want
