About Ace Pyro LLC
Ace Pyro LLC is a pyrotechnics company based in Manchester, Michigan. In addition to producing pyro-musical fireworks displays, the company also sells hobbyist pyrotechnic supplies.
The company's owner, pyrotechnician Aaron Enzer, said Wednesday that he has been in the pyrotechnics business since the mid 1990's. He also said that he is excited about having a part in the historic fireworks display planned for Monroe's Custer Week.
"We are very much looking forward to participating in this celebration so close to home," he said during a telephone interview.
Mr. Enzer also said that his company is available for commercial fireworks displays and has a website at www.acepyro.com. They can be reached by telephone at (877) 223-3552 or (734) 428-0900.
Historic Fireworks Display
Fireworks displays have long been an American tradition. According to festivefever.com, fireworks displays were popular even before the Revolutionary War. The use of fireworks displays in American celebrations began with the first Independence Day in 1777.
According to Mr. Enzer, the differences between the fireworks displays of the 1860's and those of today are due to the availability of certain chemicals which give modern fireworks their vibrant colors. The fireworks of yesteryear, lacking certain hard to obtain chemicals, were silver and gold.
Monroe's Civil War Celebration
Monroe's Ninth Annual Custer Week begins on Saturday, September 29, and ends on October 7. The theme of this year's Custer Week is a Civil War Celebration. The week-long educational program will focus on General George Armstrong Custer's service during the Civil War as well as Michigan's Civil War history.
General George Custer made Monroe his home and married a Monroe girl, Elizabeth "Libbie" Bacon. A statue of the general stands at the corner of Monroe and W. Elm Streets.
An updated schedule of events for the Ninth Annual Custer Week is available in PDF at www.georgecuster.com. For more information about the scheduled events or the historic fireworks display, contact the Custer Celebration Committee at 734-241-0201.
