The Algonquin is the oldest operating hotel in New York City, welcoming guests since 1902. It is known for hosting the "Round Table", a group of politicians, writers and intellectuals who met there daily from 1919 to 1929. The hotel is also home to a cat named Matilda. Other famous visitors to the Algonquin have included Gertrude Stein, Orson Welles, Laurence Olivier, Anthony Hopkins and more.

Located on Park Avenue, the Waldorf-Astoria is famous for its luxurious boutiques and accommodations. Former U.S. President Herbert Hoover, Douglas MacArthur and Cole Porter have called the Waldorf-Astoria home, as well as gangsters Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and Charles "Lucky" Luciano. Additionally, the Waldorf salad was first created in the kitchens of the Waldorf-Astoria, more than 100 years ago.

Since first opening in 1931, the Essex House has lured guests with its rich and luxurious accommodations, and underwent refurbishment in 2006. According to Wikipedia, Russian composer Igor Stravinsky once lived there, and actress/humanitarian Angelina Jolie currently owns the penthouse.
