Historical Museums in Miami

When people first hear of the city of Miami, they usually just assume that Miami is all about the beaches, fishing, and wealth. Of course these few things make up a lot of Miami, but there is so much more behind the amazing secrets of Miami.

Miami is a city built around history. There are several great, popular museums in Miami which people often don't even consider while thinking about the city of Miami.

There are several family museums. The Miami Museum of Natural Science is definitely a must go for the family. It's a great break from the beaches, barbecues, and fishing trips. There are so many fascinating displays here, and since the museum is for families, there will be something that everyone in the family will find enjoyable! This museum also is home to an awesome aquarium, home to tons of unique wildlife, probably species that most people haven't even had the chance to see. There is also a very enjoyable planetarium, which will interest anyone of any age, so don't plan on getting bored in this museum!

The American Police Museum and Hall of Fame came to Miami in 1960, which was long before the shows of CSI and Miami Vice came visible to the public through television. This would pretty much greatly interest anyone as well, because this is home to some of the world's most interesting police exhibits, especially seeing how it was before the television shows were even out which were based around Miami.

The Miami Children's Museum is a great place to drop the kids off for an interesting and entertaining stay for children. I'd personally say that this museum is most likely for children under the age of 12, because that's where most of the interest in the exhibits comes from.

The Gold Coast Railroad Museum is another extremely popular museum based in Miami. Partially because it allows the family to interact with model trains which are all over the place, driving in and out of the rooms. I was extremely interested with the way the train system worked here, and spent my entire stay working on figuring out exactly how the train systems were mapped out. This is definitely a great museum if you're interested in working your mechanical mind!

The Bass Museum of Art is by far one of the most popular museums in the area, and definitely a must-see before leaving Miami. This is definitely one of the best collections in the region. This museum includes an awesome blend of old world with the new, and believe me, this museum will not leave you bored, it's definitely one of the most entertainment-driven museums in the nation.

Overall, all of these museums are extremely popular and well worth the value. Like I've previously stated, Miami is a city of history, not just fishing, parties, beaches, and shopping. Miami has a long, unique history which is displayed through its many awesome and unique museums.
