Historical Vacations

Visiting a museum is great and can be very enlightening and educational and extremely enjoyable as well. But when you visit a particular area and walk the same path that was trod by a certain historical figure or actually get up close and personal with different landmarks this can really make for a memorable vacation experience.

Historical vacations can be taken in any part of the world. America itself has many historical sites and landmarks and of course every country of the world is certainly filled with history and culture. What interests you, what would you and your spouse like to learn more about?

Here are some suggestions:

England and especially London are both full of rich history and have some beautiful landmarks which many people find very romantic. Reenactments of the Battle of Maldon are conducted a few short kilometers from the heart of London, and you can also visit many English gardens that have been around since before both world wars. England also has many churches and other buildings that are centuries old.

The U.S. has many historical sites and tours that are well worth exploring. Along the southeastern corridor you can visit plantations and sites of ancient battles that were used in the Civil War. In the southwest there are many battle sites but also areas that have historical importance to the Native American culture. In the northeast you can visit many locations that are important to the birth of the country itself, in and around Washington, D.C.

Egypt may have one of the most widely visited historical tours in the world. Visiting the pyramids and museums of this incredible area can really give a true feeling for life during this ancient time and provide some amazingly romantic excursions as well. Many of the artifacts found in these museums are ones that tell love stories between pharaohs and their wives or even the love the people had for their rulers. And many are made of solid gold!

Of course there is no end to the history you may experience in places of Asia; of course Japan and China have cultural history that they have records of that go back literally thousands of years, but other places in Asia that are full of culture and history include Myanmar, Vietnam, and so many other beautiful places.

When planning historical vacations you may want to consider a guided tour so that you really understand everything you're experiencing and are sure to not miss anything.
