Some of the first history was missing because Birmingham's public schools did not organize competitive athletic teams until the middle 1920s.
While many other communities have high school sports halls of fame, the exhibit provides recognition for Birmingham's top prep athletes of yore.
The exhibit is on display until Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Birmingham Historical Museum & Park, 556 West Maple. A visit would provide an ideal activity for family members who are returning home for the holiday season. Admission is $1 for members, children 18 and younger and seniors 65 and older. Non-members pay $2.
