Sleepy Hollow. Only a short trip from New York, Sleepy Hollow was made famous by Washington Irving in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Take a romantic getaway and you can tour beautiful Kykuit, the stately mansion that has been home to the Rockefellers for more than 100 years. There's the Old Dutch burying ground, Patriots Park where British spy John Andre was captured and Sleepy Hollow cemetery where Washington Irving is buried - all surrounded by beautiful countryside. Don't forget to visit Sunnyside, Washington Irving's home for many years.

Sackets Harbor. The village of Sackets Harbor is one of the loveliest in New York State. The center of the village is a National Register Historic District and features gift shops and beautiful 19th Century houses. Visit the Sackets Harbor battlefield, made famous in the war of 1812, take romantic walks around Black Water Bay, and stay in one of the historic bed and breakfasts.

Seneca Falls. Made famous by the first Women's Rights Convention held here in 1848, Seneca Falls is the historic gateway to Finger Lakes. Show your loved one that you too support women's rights and bring her on a romantic trip to Seneca Falls. The historic harbor is lovely, the National Women's Hall of Fame is interesting, and there are more than 70 easy to visit wineries in the Finger Lakes area. Seneca Falls is also believed to have been the inspiration for Frank Capra's classic "It's a Wonderful Life".
