Hit and Run Road Accident in Essex UK

A Terrible Hit and Run Road Accident

Denise Larkin
A few days ago, my son was hit by a vehicle and was left nearly dead lying in the road, as the driver did not stop to help. Some considerable time later he was discovered by the Romford Police.

What sort of person can leave a young 19 year old boy lying almost dead in the road? What has the world come to? It could be a drink driver! Whoever it was they are in big trouble and will be found!

My son, James, left our home to go out with his friends on Friday, 1st October 2010 in Romford, Essex. When the evening was over he left to come home, but then he was knocked down before he was able to telephone us. This accident happened opposite the Ice Skating Rink in Romford. He was left there for at least a couple hours before he was discovered. He could have died, but thankfully the Romford Police found him and rushed him to hospital.

I am pleading to anyone that might have seen this Romford accident or who knows who might have did this to contact the Romford Police in Essex to give evidence.

James is now in hospital. He will be there for at least eight weeks, as he has extensive injuries. He has a broken pelvis, broken vertebrae, broken jaw, broken cheek bones, fractured nose, broken eye sockets, a broken left arm that is now in a brace, a damaged left kidney, a damaged spleen and he may have lost the sight in his right eye. He will not walk for a very long time and he will need rehabilitation to walk again. He is waiting to have surgery on his face and then they will sort out his other injuries. He will need at least 3 operations on his face to get it right again. They cannot do surgery on his face quickly, as his bones are still very weak. He has not eaten for days and is becoming weaker every day. This was an horrendous accident and it could happen to anyone.

So, I ask any driver, if you knock someone down own up to it. Do not leave the poor person to die on the street. Most of all, do not drink alcohol if you are driving! Whatever the case, just stop to help the person you have knocked down. Call the police and own up to what you have done, as leaving it will create a worse dilemma for you!

If the person who was driving reads this or if anyone knows anything about this accident, please contact Romford Police station on Main Road, Romford. For more information, go to the Romford Police website.
