Hitman by David Foster and Friends: CD/DVD Review

Greg Preez
We may not be familiar with this musical genius but, surely, his ingenuity has come across millions of music lovers.

David Foster, a musical extraordinaire, is the songwriter/producer who made a huge impact in the music business. This 15 time Grammy winner had brought us the big ones in the music industry; discovering Celine Dion, Michael Buble, Josh Groban to name a few and definitely the list goes on and is still counting. His taste in music is definitely a force worth reckoning with as his producing and songwriting covers a wide variety of genre.

On November 11, 2008, David Foster released a 2-disc album which includes a CD and a DVD. It is a product of a spectacular night on Las Vegas MGM Grand last May 2008. The star-studded night featured performances by Kenny G, Peter Cetera, Brian McKnight, Blake Shelton, Cheryll Lynn, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and newcomers Katherine McPhee, Renee Olstead, Michael Johns and the powerhouse sensation who rocked MGM Grand, Oprah discovery Charice.

This album is definitely worth every single penny. Not only because of the artists who are part of it but the music just cannot go wrong with just about anyone. It is pretty sure that a lot of its performances by different artists are part of our mental songbooks that aged pretty well within us.

The coverage of the night is highly sophisticated and everyone who gets it can tell that it has been designed to be enjoyed not only during the show night alone but in the comfort of the homes of those who buy it as well−as seen on the DVD. Definitely a high quality perfect buy.

Among everything outstanding, it cannot be a night without stars shining dazzlingly. There were wild audience reception here and there and some classy, exceptional performances by Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and a one of a kind prodigy recently discovered Charice. These performances said a lot about the night and David Fosters works. It is somehow regretful not to have witnessed it live in flesh.

Hitman: David Foster and Friends will hit the air on PBS in December.

Well, there is no doubt this event was a life changing experience to me. It made me realized about the guy behind the music. Many of these songs are tru classics. In a scale of 1 to 10, I give it 9. Why 9? Cause he should've had more of his west coast music(Airplay stuff) and for cutting WHOS HOLDING DONNA NOW from the DVD. This song is really good and by Babyface would be even better...Why did they cut it!!!
I highly recommend it though...buy it right now!
