Hitman Monkey: Marvel Digital Gambles on Newest and Perhaps Deadliest Character

Marvel Digital Comics Recently Unveiled a New Comic Character in Their Stables

There is a two-part exclusive edition from Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited being released next month, that will feature a monkey that editors are describing as a Chow Yun Fat from The Killer but instead is a monkey. The first release images of the monkey show him dressed in James Bond fashion with a red tie and holding two pistols up in the air. The white haired hitman or hit-monkey has yellow eyes and almost human-like features.

Monkey has also been described as part jazz lover and part Batman (the tortured one from the Dark Knight), and is considered a 30 pound "engine of destruction".

The comic will border on a mix of comedy and tragedy as it recounts the story of the monkey that is from the mountains of Japan and through several twists and turns becomes the deadliest assassin in the world. The monkeys is rumored to be a master of martial arts and also for good measure a superb shot with his pistols.

The first issue will be out in December of this year and will be the work of writer Daniel Way and artist Dalibor Talijic, and cover art by Frank Cho. Interesting that a member of the creation team in Daniel Way also has a history of writing for some of the darkest comics that Marvel produces such as Punisher, Ghost Rider and more. So there is speculation that although Hitman Monkey may seem to be a comic fest and the brunt of many jokes to come, there might be a totally different spin on the Hitman Monkey that might border a darker more serious theme like the work found in the Punisher and the Ghost Rider.

Can Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited take a character based off a monkey and turn him into a hit? It didn't seem to stop people from making a hit out of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or other characters based on animals that had a gritty side in the beginning of their stories.

This is not just an ordinary premiere of a new comic book character and it has very high hopes for Marvel. It marks the first time that a character has debuted out of Marvel Digital comics Unlimited and could influence the release of new comic book characters in the future.

So in essence the Hitman Monkey could actually be the assassin who takes out all future comic book characters from entering our world through Marvel Digital Comics and no one would see that one coming.
